THE GROUNDS
 Bywell offers some of the best clay targets in the UK. The ground is affiliated and registered with the sports governing body they are called Clay Pigeon Shooting Association. Bywell has been awarded Premier Plus status this is a rating set by the CPSA, one of only a handful in this country.
Bywell Shooting Ground has the largest and most comprehensive trap shooting layouts in the UK.
Our facilities include 14 DTL layouts, 6 ABT layouts, 4 Skeet ranges and a variety of sporting stands including Northumberland’s highest tower (90ft). We use all automated clay traps this allows us to the throw the best possible target from the novice to expert. This is all situated in manicured grass lawns. All our layouts are wheelchair accessible with gravel or concrete paths.
 Bywell has hosted numerous major championships. Such as English Open DTL, which we have, held for the past 17 years. The Home International for DTL has been held at Bywell 3 times in the last decade. We have also held several British Championships to numerous to mention! However one of the biggest and most prestigious has to be the World DTL Championship 2004.
We broke the World record for numbers of entrants. Also the record for shooting a magnificent maximum score this was all achieved at Bywell. It was a huge honour for us to be asked to run this competition. As the  last time it was in England was 1948. To put this into perspective it should be remembered the last time England hosted the World Clay shooting championship, the railways had just been nationalised, Bread was still rationed and Clement Attlee was still Primer Minster. It was truly a wonderful weekend of shooting with over 503 competitors taking part each day for the three-day competition and twelve countries taking part. A very memorable weekend.
We have a large central heated clubhouse with refreshments, an accessories and gun shop. There is ample free parking available adjacent to the clubhouse and shooting ranges. All our staff are friendly and knowledgeable and are there to help you.
